Set Up Commission Deductions for Services

In Zenoti, you can set up commission deductions for services. This means you can deduct a certain amount from the commission a therapist earns on performing a service.

To set up commission deductions for services, you need to:

  1. Set up service commission deductions at the Service level
  2. [Optional] Set up service commission deductions at the Employee level

Tip: First, set up commission deductions at the Service level - Zenoti applies this deduction to all therapists who perform this service. You can further apply exceptions at the Employee (Service tab) level.

To set up service commission deductions at the Service (Item) level:

  1. Ensure that you are at the Organization level.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Resources > Services
  3. Click the name of a service for which you want to set up deductions.
    The Edit Service screen opens.
  4. Click the Deductions tab.
  5. Enter a Description
  6. Enter a value and select Flat or Percentage from the drop-down list.
Example: You may enter $20 as the flat amount or 10% as a percentage. This deduction applies to all therapists who perform the service.
Item Value
Commission earned on the service $40
Commission deduction (as a percentage) 10%
  • Amount deducted
$4
(10% of 40)
  • Final commission earned
$36
(40 - 4)
Commission deduction (as flat amount) $10
  • Amount deducted

$10

  • Final commission earned
$30
(40-10)
  1. Click Add
Important: You can configure multiple deductions. This means, suppose you configure two deductions, both deductions will apply on the base amount of the service. This means, if the employee stood to earn $100 as commission from a service, and you have set up two deductions, 10% and $20, both these will apply on the base amount ($100). Refer to the following table for details.
    Item Value
Initial commission earned on the service $100
    (Base value)
Multiple deductions set up at the Service level
    • 10% (percentage deduction) and
    • $20 (flat amount deduction)

    Total amount deducted

    $30
    (10 + 20 = 30)
Here, 10 is 10% of 100 and 20 is the flat amount.

    Final commission earned (after deduction)

    $70
    (100-30)
Here, 100 is the base amount and 30 is the total amount deducted.

Note: You can add multiple service deductions to the employee. Zenoti calculates all deductions on the base amount of service commission the therapist was due to earn initially. Consider the example in the following table.

    Item Value
Initial commission earned on the service  $100
    (Base value)
Multiple deductions set up at the Service level
    • 10% (percentage deduction) and
    • $20 (flat amount deduction)

Net amount deducted at the Service level

    $30
    (10 + 20 = 30)
Here, 10 is 10% of 100 and 20 is the flat amount.
Deduction set up at the Employee level  5%
Net amount deducted at the Employee level

    $5

    (5% of 100)

    Total amount deducted  35
    (30+5)

Final commission earned (after deductions at Service and Employee levels)

    $65
    (100-35)
Here, 100 is the base amount and 35 is the total amount deducted.

  7. Click Close
Zenoti deducts commission that this therapist earns on this particular service.

You can further apply deductions at the invoice level and on total deductions the employee earns in a pay period. Read: Set Up Commission Deductions for Invoices and Total Commissions
